[Review] My Thoughts on Monster Mountain

Posted: 05 Sep 2016 01:28 AM PDT

Hello guys, GameMelter here!

I was playing Monster Mountain and actually enjoying it loads, so I wanted to share some of my thoughts with you. I hope you enjoy reading, but I will still keep this short:

  1. Graphics - Exceptional
This is where the game excels. I love the art-style and the consistency it has. Graphics look like a mash-up between Samurai Jack and HP Lovecraft, with everything being flat 2D on parallax backgrounds. The setting is dark and full of demons, vampires, werewolves, zombies and many others, making for some interesting interactions
  2. Sound & Music - Good
This is where the game does not excel. Sounds and music are good, but that's it. The same sound effects are used for pretty much every character's attack and quickly become repetitive. Music is nice and you can go on and listen to it for hours without it becoming annoying.
  3. Gameplay - Very Good
Monster Mountain is a real-time tactical combat game. You have a team of 4 characters and each of them attacks when their respective timer runs out. Obviously, different characters have different speeds and therefore attack more often. Characters also have special skills, and in order to use them you need to draw some shapes on the screen (the quality and speed of drawing determine the power of the skill). Tarot cards are also involved in the mix - you can have one active in each battle and they offer unique effects.
Characters are unlocked as you progress through the game and you can build up a massive collection of 150. All of them look and feel different and are separated on terms of race and class (you can see how some features are similar for the whole race, a detail that makes it that much better). You can upgrade your fighters by spending various resources which you find in battle and by sometimes sacrificing lower level characters. There are tons of ways to progress and collect resources, so the game can keep you occupied for a little while
  4. IAPs - A bit expensive
The part I don't like that much here are IAPs - they range from £7 to £26 and allow you to upgrade characters faster, not wait for battles and so on. However, no real pay walls exist and you can get to the end without spending anything (prepare for grinding) so they get away this time.

You can download the game here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.funkypandagame.mountain

Please, let me know your comments as well and your thoughts on the game if you have played it. Any other titles that are similar would also be much appreciated.

Blind Android users - do you play any games?

Posted: 04 Sep 2016 01:37 PM PDT

I asked myself this one and would like to have some answers from blind Android users (or people who know any cases). Do you play any games on your phone? If so, how do you do it? With accessibility options from Android (TTS), with third-party apps, or are there games designed for blind people? Thank you!

Is anything similar to civilization available on Android? Or even age of empires type of thing? I would love some suggestions.

I have 2 different versions of bad piggies on my kindle fire one says bad piggies and the other Bad piggies actually free what are the differences

Posted: 04 Sep 2016 09:37 AM PDT

Could someone please explain the difference in these two games to me. They appear to be the same but on the one that says actually free I find that their new little coin system the green looking coins arent in the right hand side of the screen and I also haven't noticed adds yet on this version. I have them both and before I get into it I want to know if I will be missing out on content by playing the "actually free" version. I usually spend hours and hours playing this game when I download it again and start over and was wondering which version I should play. Does the version without the little coins get them later in the game or something? On my other version with ads I go back and replay the levels I had beat and am given the coins for them but on the other I got 3 stars and was given no coins the stars are on the top left corner and the coins should be in the right. Any help would be appreciated. Also where did I get this other version?

Currently in closed beta, with access granted on pre order. Pretty cool game.so far with a great community. No auto play crap - just fun old school mmo style game.

Bought the $50 pack and am excited to finally find an Android mmo worthy of $$/time.
