Teach an old dog new tricks - What is something that experienced Android users may not realize they can do with their phones?

Inspired by the popularity of a recent post that shows how useful split-screening can be in the car (music player controls on one side, navigation on the other), what are some things that you can do on / with your Android phone that even the most seasoned Android users may not have thought of or are aware of?

Google better knock it out of the park with the upcoming Pixel phones because there is going to be ex-iPhone users searching for the "Best android phone"

Posted: 07 Sep 2016 04:29 PM PDT

With the 5X woes and 6p camera speed/native app being a continuing hot topic it's annoying when people ask "What's the best android phone?" and my first suggestion is usually Samsung but then I always like to point out Nexus but then that usually complicates things because then it's all about the pros and cons of both.

It would be great to just say "Get a Pixel!". If Apple do anything well it's consistency which is something Android needs and it's clear that Google is aware, I just hope they execute it well.

Does anyone else consistently check what an app is being updated for to see if there are going to be any major changes?

Posted: 06 Sep 2016 09:41 PM PDT

Update: What's an app you have that could really use a material design update?

Update 2: It's awesome to read all the comments here, I'm pretty busy, so replying is kinda non-existent (sorry). For anybody with Nexus phones, as one commenter mentioned, there's a new update for the contacts app that allows grouping and it looks slightly different.

I mean cpus have gotten much better but the A10 chip looks blistering fast and even Samsung's chipset sometimes beats Qualcomm? Why is Qualcomm lagging?

PSA: If you bought a 6 month "Valentine's" google music package, it's ending now-ish and you MIGHT lose your early-adpopter $7.99 rate (per chat with Google support)

Posted: 07 Sep 2016 06:01 PM PDT

This is what I'm talking about http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/02/12/deal-alert-google-play-music-subscription-gifts-are-50-off-until-february-15/

Just got off the phone with Google support

I was in for the 7.99 rate, and then bought 6 months for $30 (great deal btw)

It's now ended and my rate went back up to $9.99. I called support and ask... and they said they can put in a request to get my rate lowered

But that since it's been so long, there's no guarantee. I should know in a couple days... but thought others should know was well
