How can I explore Quadroot to root my device? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 04:21 PM PDT Since Quadroot scanner say that my device is exposed to quadroot vulnerabilities, how can I explore them to gain root access? [link] [comments] |
What should I do with this old phone? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 02:31 PM PDT I have this old Prism II with Android version 4.1.1 on it. I've just been using it for internet, and it does that alright, but is there anything else to use it for? Also it doesn't get mobile service anymore(duh lol). I've thought about rooting it too. How to restrain apps with mobile data? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 12:57 PM PDT Greetings Since i forget sometimes i turned on my data mobile and when getting home dont turn it off instead of turning on wifi, i want to restrain apps of using my mobile data, that use a lot of data, like YT, Snapchat and so on... Is there any way of restraining them? [link] [comments] |
"Copy to clipboard" is missing for images under "Share" on my Samsung Galaxy 7 Posted: 14 Sep 2016 02:20 PM PDT I can't find any way to copy a local (non-web) image to the clipboard anywhere on my phone. If I long-click an image (under Gallery, Google Photos, etc.) and select "Share", I can send it to Facebook, text messages, etc., but I can't copy the image to the clipboard. The option is completely missing. Both my previous Android and my iPhone could easily copy an image by long-clicking it or sharing it. What gives? Did they intentionally remove this or did Samsung drop the ball on this? It's a fairly new phone and I haven't installed anything unusual. [link] [comments] |
Is Snapchat draining more battery than normal? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 04:26 PM PDT I've been noticing that after their newest updates the app is draining my battery extremely bad, between 25%-30% and my display only takes around 16%-20%, I can drop 30% in a couple hours just from Snapchat alone if I leave it running. Is anyone else experiencing this as well? I have an AT&T LG G5 H820. It's also making my phone so hot that I have a screen burn of the chat window now and it isn't going away. The only fix I found to this is by force stopping the app, but it's tedious to do it nearly every 15-20 minutes to keep my phone cool and it's battery alive. [link] [comments] |
How can I be sure the version I'm on is NOT a beta version of Android? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 01:50 PM PDT I signed up for the beta program right at the same time that the official public release of 7.0 was being released. I don't want to be in the beta program anymore but I can't get out without wiping if I have a beta version installed currently but I can't find out if the version I have is beta. I'm on Nexus 5X. My build number is NRD90M, baseband version M8994F-2.6.33.2.14, Kernel version 3.10.73-g43154bf android-build@vpec5.mtv.corp.google.com #1 Tue Jun 28 20:09:05 UTC 2016 [link] [comments] |
How can I go back to my LG Android skin? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 03:49 PM PDT A while ago I installed CM 12 on my LG G3, and I was wondering how could I go back to the skin that the smartphone came with? [link] [comments] |
Finally giving up on windows phone, please help me love it here! Posted: 14 Sep 2016 03:44 PM PDT Finally giving up on WP, just got my Axon 7 and liking things so far. Any advice to make the transition easier? Thinking more settings, layout, UI, tips/tricks, than apps etc. TIA [link] [comments] |

Posted: 14 Sep 2016 05:48 AM PDT So here's the deal, I have a limited data connection in my car, but I get certain functionalities like the ability to cast music on my phone to my car over it's wifi connection. I don't want to use up all of my car's data when I have unlimited data on my phone. Is there a way to always prioritize my data connection to the cellular connection over the wifi connection? If i activate adoptable storage, does the whole android system corrupt if the sdcard dies? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 03:29 PM PDT I am getting a sandisk 256GB sdcard with 95MB read speed and it is a costly beast, but i want it to have space for whatever i want on my note 7 i get in 1.5 month's which gives me more or less 300GB.. so, here's my questions: 1: if the sdcard dies, does that mean the whole system goes corrupt? or just the appdata of the apps and games installed on the sdcard? 2: Can i access the sdcard's storage even as adoptable storage? or is it then a part of the main storage and i can't choose what i want installed where? Cause there are some emu stuff and non space speed intense games and camera stuff i can have on the sdcard. while other stuff on the internal space. [link] [comments] |
Google Calendar Missing Events Posted: 14 Sep 2016 03:26 PM PDT So... I've tried everything that I can think of, but I still occasionally have calendar entries that won't show up on my phone, but do show up on my online google calendar if I use my laptop. I've made sure that they are on the right calendar, it's the one I always use, associated with my main android gmail account. A few things are showing that day on both, but one huge work event, that would have been horrible if I somehow missed, just won't show up on my phone. This happened a few weeks ago and scared me, and now that it's happening again, I'm a little freaked out. I can't afford to miss or double book events like this. Is this some android setting that I'm missing? I don't know why it only happens once or twice a month. It's very strange to me. Thanks for any and all help. [link] [comments] |

How did I get Android malware on my Windows PC? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 11:24 AM PDT Today the antivirus on my Windows PC detected something called winkle.zip in AppData\Local\Temp\WSRootDownload and after a quick Google I found that the entire directory is some sort of Android malware designed to root the device without the user knowing. I do have an Android device that I occasionally connect to my PC to transfer photos/etc but the most recent time I did that was weeks ago, and my PC does a virus scan every day. This winkle.zip file said it had just been downloaded today. The file was caught by Kaspersky. I also ran Kaspersky on my Android and the scan was clean. So it seems like I downloaded an Android virus on my PC somehow. I suppose the download itself wasn't blocked because it's designed for Android and couldn't run anyway. But I'm not exactly sure how this happened. Does anyone know what's going on here? [link] [comments] |

OTA System update with unlocked bootloader? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 01:23 PM PDT So I just got an odd system update notification on my rooted Nexus 5. I thought you can not receive OTAs once you unlock your bootloader? Strangely when i tap on the notification - Google play services crashes and it won't let me install it. [link] [comments] |
Problems updating OS. How do I check if my phone is rooted? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 01:23 PM PDT Hi I hope someone can help me with this issue. I bought my phone a year ago and it has worked flawlessly until recently. I updated pokemon go and the game stopped working. I think my phone might be rooted and I can't update my OS OTA and its a Samsung note 3 N900W8 with kitkat 4.4.2. How can I update the OS? Do I have to unlock my sim again? [link] [comments] |
Nvidia Shield tablet MK1 worth it? Or better alternative/wait for MK2? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 01:15 PM PDT I saw the nvidia shield tablet. It looked amazing. But... The $200 pricetag was quite... unsettling. For all the features (it's a powerful tablet holy fuck) it might be worth it but if I can get a tablet for cheap (and hey they got that pen! I definitely want it.) and has the same hardware and/or features, I am willing to give it a look. Or should I just wait for the shield tablet mk2 and buy a mk1 or mk2? [link] [comments] |
Reliable App To Measure Charging Posted: 14 Sep 2016 12:48 PM PDT On my Nexus5x I'm testing battery packs and chargers. The apps I've downloaded from the Store that claim to measure amphere hour charging just seem very inconsistent and inaccurate. Can anyone suggest a good app? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Sep 2016 12:33 PM PDT Hey guys, I got an S7 edge in June and the battery was amazing! I was getting 6 hours screen on time and never had to worry about a charger even at the end of the day. The last month or so I noticed a huge decrease in performance but no change in my usage. I got a free replacement last week because I told my provider the situation, but I am still experiencing shorter battery life. Any one have any idea why? When I go to my usage it says android system is taking most of it, which it never used to. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Google now no longer automatically notifies me of travel time to my next calendar event Posted: 14 Sep 2016 12:32 PM PDT One thing I loved about Google Now was that, if I had an event in my calendar with a location attached to it, around 15 minutes or so before I would need to leave, I'd get a notification saying "Leave by xx:xx". It was great, because it would take into account traffic, and the like, so that I'd get the notification ahead of time so that I'd never be late. As of recently, it longer does that. It don't see any setting or anything that I might've accidentally changed, so I don't know how it would have happened. I still have a card that shows up on the Google Now screen saying "leave by xx:xx", but I have to remember to go and check it a certain amount of time before leaving, which kind of defeats the purpose. Especially if there's a LARGE amount of traffic delaying the trip by 20+ minutes - I definitely wouldn't know to check it that early. How do I get those automatic notifications back? Magisk/ phh superuser caused instability Posted: 14 Sep 2016 12:19 PM PDT I followed this and this guide. I have a note I fully unrooted superuser. I downloaded magisk and phh superuser and installed them through twrp. I installed magisk manager from the first link, and phh superuser from the play store. They worked fine, and got around the safteynet. I could toggle root in magisk manager, and trick apps successfully. However, a lot of system services no longer work. No app will go to landscape mode, even with auto rotate toggled. The camera won't start. The brightness is always at max (I think), and won't change regardless of the slider or other brightness settings. When I reboot, a toast message declares "selinux set to permissive". The first time I ran magisk manager, the selinux was toggled on/ blue like in the first links guide. Now, it is off, and I cannot change it back through magisk manager or any other app. I know I probably screwed my phone up, but I'm praying somebody can help me undo the phh superuser and magisk root, so I can install superuser and put things back so the system services work again. Alternativly, if a mirical worker could suggest something to make my services work whilst keeping phh superuser and magisk, that would be awesome. Ideally, I'd really rather not format my phone and reflash everything. Thank you for any help, advice, and insight. [link] [comments] |
Should I update my Lenovo K4 Note to Marshmallow? Posted: 14 Sep 2016 12:15 PM PDT Have any if you updated to Marshmallow on your K4 Note? I have read, on many online forums, that there are a lot of problems after updating to Marshmallow, namely, fingerprint gestures not working, phone getting too hot, too much RAM usage? Have any of you, K4 Note users updated to Marshmallow? Would you suggest me to upgrade to Marshmallow? [link] [comments] |
Ringtone volume randomly decreasing on its own after latest update - Samsung Galaxy S5 on AT&T Posted: 14 Sep 2016 12:13 PM PDT Hey guys - basically what the title says. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5, about two years old, service through AT&T. In the past couple of months I've gotten a minimum of 3-4 separate updates, and after the most recent one (maybe a week or two ago) my ringtone volume drops to close to the lowest setting several times a day. I tried increasing the ringtone using the buttons on the side of the phone, I tried increasing it through the "sounds & notifications" thingamajig - and it increases just fine, but after some time (and this interval varies every time - it's been anything from 15 minutes to several hours) it goes right back down. I tried Googling around but couldn't find anything more recent than mid-2015, which would place all of those issues way before the updates which (I think? maybe?) caused my current problems. Now that I think of it, it could just be some sort of physical doohickey breaking down - my mother had similar issues with her Galaxy S5 but it was close to a year ago and her phone is newer than mine. Thoughts? Suggestions? Is this a known problem and my Google-fu is just weak? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Media Player Replacement? (x-post /r/android) Posted: 14 Sep 2016 11:50 AM PDT Sorry for the seemingly noobish question, I'm just not too well versed in devices that run Android yet... My iPod Touch died and I don't want to deal with Apple anymore. I wanted a device that had similar functionality however, since it's hard to deny how useful it was to me when it still worked. Preferably I'd be looking for something that has a lot of space for music (16gb or higher should be fine for me). Other than that, just a speedy device that I can do a bunch of everything on and fit into my pocket, web browsing, video and streaming, note keeping, the usual gauntlet of social media. I have a phone already however, that I use pretty strictly only for calls because of my very cheap cellular plan, but I'm not opposed to the device being a phone if need be, as long as I don't have to sign any contracts. A bit of help? I'm very lost but I know I'd prefer the functionality of Android... [link] [comments] |
