[DEV] Quick Phone Entry

Posted: 07 Jun 2016 06:27 AM PDT

Super fast way to enter someone's phone number (or other contact information)

Was tired of never knowing which system to use to quickly enter someone's information, so I made a small app designed JUST for that.

The main hook: autocompletes names and email domains through a huge built-in database. The built-in keyboard means it won't screw up the person's name.

I'm looking for feedback and this subreddit was a godsend for finding bugs and suggestions with my previous app Cast-a-Draw, so I'm posting here first this time around :)

I hope you all enjoy!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qpentry.quickphoneentry

Thanks!

PS: NO ADS. No tracking, no selling your information.

What's slowing down my phone?

Posted: 07 Jun 2016 07:36 AM PDT

Is there an app I can use to find out what's slowing down my LG G3? It's pretty capable phone but quite often it slows down tremendously. Even when I just turn on the screen sometimes it takes about 10 seconds for everything to "load" and even swiping the desktop is slow and choppy. So, is there an app that shows what exactly is using the process power at the given time or something along those lines?

[DEV] CatTorrent - Torrent Client

Hey Reddit, I'm the developer of this app. Want to share it with you. It can download torrents without torturing you with aggressive fullscreen ads.

Please give it a try. Feedback is welcomed :) I constantly working on it. It would be cool if you could help me make it better.

Question regarding Google keyboard and word suggestions

Posted: 06 Jun 2016 07:57 PM PDT

I switched from Swiftkey to Google keyboard after seeing all the praise with it being faster than Swiftkey and being able to use your own pictures as themes. So far I am enjoying it but I have a problem with its word suggestion bar. In some apps, mostly messaging, note taking, and Reddit apps, the bar shows but on other apps such as browsers, YouTube, and even the Google search bar it doesn't show. Is it supposed to be like this with the suggestion bar only showing in some instances?

HI, I am an IOS user that previously used Android before all the fitness stuff came out I am making the transition back and was kind of spoiled by Healthkit and its integration with some of equipment. One such piece of equipment was my Wahoo tickr heart rate strap. Are there any apps that do continuous heart rate monitoring and dump that data into Google Fit?

Are there any apps or services similar to IFTTT that work for the auto sync function on Samsung phones?

Posted: 07 Jun 2016 06:59 AM PDT

For example, I have an IFTTT recipe to turn my WiFi on and off at specific times. I would like my auto sync to follow suit and maybe only turn on like once more throughout the day for a couple minutes. This is all in an effort to save data.

Facebook messenger client alternative?

Posted: 07 Jun 2016 06:49 AM PDT

I'm looking for a lightweight Facebook Messenger alternative since Facebooks messenger app constantly freezes my phone/crashes even though I haven't used the app recently.

Preferably I would like something that uses as few permissions as possible and is only one purpose (FB messenger not 100 of different protocols). But the most important thing is that it is lightweight.

[DEV] Icon Packs Material Design Dashboard - Looking for help

Posted: 06 Jun 2016 02:08 PM PDT

Hi people

I'm the developer of a material design based dashboard for icon packs. Its name is IconShowcase and is published on GitHub.

https://github.com/jahirfiquitiva/IconShowcase-Dashboard

If you are an icon pack designer, or plan to start with icon packs development, you may want to give it a look and maybe use it.

Is free and open-source.

The app is based in a library where all the code is: https://github.com/jahirfiquitiva/IconShowcase

I'm looking for some help to improve the performance and stability of the app.

If you can help, contact me, leave a comment and/or make pull requests on GitHub.

Thanks in advance.

[Request] A Reddit app with a built in ad blocker.

Posted: 06 Jun 2016 03:22 PM PDT

To clarify: a Reddit app that has a built in browser. The built in browser blocks ads similar to ad block. This way I can visit reddit sites on my phone without needing to install another browser on top of chrome, which I use for everything else.

Movie HD is back, now working on more devices, but with a catch..

Posted: 07 Jun 2016 03:46 AM PDT

Movie HD is an app for streaming and downloading movies and TV shows, similar to ShowBox. Its service has been down for a while but that has recently been fixed with an update to v4.1.0. Unfortunately this update also introduced the mandatory installation of their useless video player called VPlayer. I managed to remove the new VPlayer stuff and restore the old Download | Custom | Play options and I posted my mod here.

I keep getting this error when I open the app. They said they fixed it in the description but they didn't. I downloaded it via Aptoide. Has this continued with any one else.

Need assistance in finding to-do list/productivity app or combo of apps that have the features that I need.

Posted: 06 Jun 2016 03:14 PM PDT

I am looking for an app where I can help manage my days and tasks. First, I want to be able to create a to-do list with both task and sub-task. I would like to be able to take those task and place them within time windows for a given day. For example, if my task is to get groceries, I can designate from 1PM to 2PM tomorrow. In addition, I would like it to remind me when things are up for me to do. There are lots of apps for a to-do list but I cant find any with a daily planner. Instead, they just allow you to list things by day but not specifc timeframes.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Simple, low-resource automation app?

Posted: 06 Jun 2016 04:50 PM PDT

I'm looking for an uncomplicated low-resource app to automate some simple tasks, mostly settings changes on certain conditions. I've never tried Tasker but I'm afraid it might be too complicated? Here's some of what I'd want to do:

  • I don't use BT at home, so disable BT when I'm on home Wi-Fi
  • while connected to car BT, disable WiFi
  • while connected to car BT, increase brightness by 20%

And so forth. Any suggestions?
