| Is Google contacts sync broken? Posted: 11 Jun 2016 01:20 PM PDT My buddy just bought an s7 edge on at&t due to my recommendation and it's his first android phone. He's had terrible battery life so I did a factory reset for him. Before I reset the phone I made sure to sync everything in his google account one last time. Once I synced his google account after the reset and his contacts are all missing. I tried resyncing over and over and there's still nothing. He had only 1 google account on his phone so it's not possible I synced the wrong account. I'm completely dumbfounded and pretty embarrassed because the whole "well my iPhone just works" argument is really true here. For some reason it's just not working... I tried looking into all settings under contacts and everywhere else. I tried googling it with no luck. I'm not sure what to do. [link] [comments]  |

I love the chat heads ( chat human head or chat header I've always wondered ) but I hate the new smileys... Anyone have a solution? Edit: I still want to use the Facebook messenger platform I just don't like the app anymore. Posted: 11 Jun 2016 11:04 AM PDT I have Samsung S3 running CM12.1 and whenever YouTube plays a 720p60 quality video, the video would stop ~30 seconds in while the audio keeps going. 720p videos work fine on my phone and it's annoying that I have to switch to 480p whenever the video is 720p60. Google search shows that it's a common issue among older phones so it could be a hardware issue. But is there a way to just force the app to play the video at 720p? [link] [comments]  |

| microSD card not mounting Motorola Droid Maxx 2 Posted: 11 Jun 2016 09:47 AM PDT So I have a Droid Maxx 2. In December I got a 16GB microSD card for it. A month or two later, my phone came to the conclusion that there was no SD card in it. I thought it was an SD card error, so a month ago I got a different 32GB SD card. after a couple days the phone did the same thing. instead of buying a new card, I plugged the card into my computer and got one of the scan and fix errors. After fixing it, it worked fine. however, it went right back to knowing there was an SD card in it sometime before the end of the day. Now it only last a couple hours, then disappears. Yesterday I tried reformatting it [both NTFS and FAT32(both quick format and not on a Windows 10 OS)] now the phone won't detect the card at all, not even for a few minnutes. [link] [comments]  |
| Looking for a replacement for my Moto X 2014 Posted: 11 Jun 2016 07:50 AM PDT Hey guys, So a while back my Moto X 2014(XT1097) broke. I was eating grapes in a ceramic bowl and my phone slipped out of my hand and the edge of the screen contacted with the bowl and it shattered the glass. Then I slammed it in my car door by accident. First electronic I have ever broken. I was on a budget so I bought a used Nexus 4. Now my Nexus 4 is beginning to shit the bed, so I need to start looking for a replacement. I want to buy a phone with similar specs to the Moto X 2014. Screen size doesn't need to be as large, I just want the same performance. I'm looking for something in the $200 range. New would be great, but I'll take one in good shape from my local classifieds. So, what can you suggest? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 11 Jun 2016 08:38 AM PDT My phone got stuck in recovery mode (on formatting data), and every time I try booting it normally, it returns to the previous stage. Is there any way I could force the phone to boot normally instead of going into recovery mode? The only way I can interact with the phone is through adb shell on my Ubuntu (no bootloader, no fastboot tool, no root, no nothing). [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 11 Jun 2016 09:14 AM PDT Hey, I am having an issue with my HTC One (AT&T) where all of my notifications show up at once when I "wake up" my screen. Generally this happens when I wake up in the morning to check my phone but sometimes it happens in the middle of the day when I actually need the notifications. I do not have any settings that would block these notifications and have already checked to see if it was in a "Do Not Disturb" Mode and it is not. This all started after I updated my phone to Marshmallow, although I did not notice it until about 2 weeks ago. | Rooted but Recovery not persistent? Posted: 11 Jun 2016 07:47 AM PDT Hi, I'm working on fixing my brothers GT-I9505 (jflte) also known as Samsung Galaxy S4 International. I've spent several hours on trying to get a custom recovery to stick on the device but something is blocking it after a successful flash. Right now I have root through CF Autoroot, SuperSU works on Stock Lolipop 5.0.1. But when I try to use Odin or ROM manager to install a recovery, it never boots up anything other than androids standard recovery. I've tried to google for a solution but no one seems to have this annoying issue? Upon entering Recovery I used to get the first line of blue text and then a yellow mentioning something about LinuxSE enforcement. I believe this is a security feature that blocks the recovery from remaining. However, since installing with ROM Manager, it doesn't show any more but still boots into android recovery. ROM Manager reports CWM 6.0.4.7 as installed. Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm leaving tomorrow and really want to help his phone get back working (power button has to be remapped, thinking of using AOSP, seems to have that feature installed, any other ideas?) | Strange problem with fiances Nexus 4 Posted: 11 Jun 2016 11:41 AM PDT Hey everyone, I'm hoping you can help me sort out what's going on with my fiances phone. She's got a Nexus 4 that has, or did have, Android 5.1.1. One morning she wakes up and it's just hanging on the Android title loading screen, it stays there all day, she does a reboot, it goes through optimizing all the apps, then hangs forever again. So today she tells me to hard reset it. I had to do it with my old Nexus 4 so figured it'd be easy. I do it through the bootloader and do the full data wipe, it says it's complete so I select to reboot. The weird part is that after the reboot, it comes right back to hanging on the Android title loader, but not the factory graphic for Jelly Bean, it's still hanging on the loader graphic for Lollipop, even after a data wipe. It's still hanging there endlessly. Is there some sort of program I can plug it into on my computer to give it a better run down? What would you do in this scenario? | Is anyone else's Instagram interface not updating? Posted: 11 Jun 2016 03:01 PM PDT I updated Instagram to 8.2.0 which should've given me the black and white UI, but for some reason it is still the same blue UI. I got the updated icon (sadly) but the actually app doesn't seem to change. I tried various methods like force stopping the app and clearing the cache as well as restating my phone or reinstalling the app, but it just won't work. Sometimes, it will update to the new UI for a short while but then it will revert back. Does anyone else have this issue too? Does anyone have a fix? [link] [comments]  |

| How *exactly* do I create a system.img from my device? Posted: 11 Jun 2016 10:32 AM PDT Device: Samsung Galaxy Note3 SCL22, rooted, but stock bootloader and ROM. I have some tools (ext2explore.exe, ext4_unpacker.exe, sgs2toext4.jar, and DiskInternals Linux Reader) that I've used together on other system images that I've downloaded, but I really need/want to be able to generate a system image from my own device. Everything I can find when I search for how to create a system.img tells me to just "use the ClockworkMod trick" but doesn't actually explain anything, or just links to PC software that can open the image. The closest thing to actual instructions I've found is in a forum post from 2013:
Super helpful, right? I have CWM installed already. I have it used to create backups. I've restored from those backups. Nothing I can do seems to create a system.img. I get a boot.img and a recovery.img, but no system.img. Here's what my folder looks like on my SD Card after completing the backup: No system.img. Was wondering if there was a way to get the simm unlocked short of paying someone on craigslist to do it I have rooted it successfully and was thinking about putting cyanogen on it but if that won't fix my simm issues not sure it needs doing. | Posted: 11 Jun 2016 10:00 AM PDT Hello guys, I have a g900f (Galaxy S5) and when I wanted to root my phone, he got stuck on Samsung logo. I can access to download mode and Recovery mode. Yesterday I did a nandroid backup, which is on my SD Card, but when I go in recovery mode and try to restore the backup, it says that he couldn't open the directory xx/xxx/xxx where is located the backup. Do you have a solution? I tried to reflash a custom ROM in vain.. If possible I want to avoid deleting everything. If I wipe data and then reinstall the nandroid backup, do I recover everything? I don't use the tablet everyday, so when I use it there's a bunch of notifications for Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Reddit sync, and emails from Gmail and Cloud Magic...
