[DEV] I made a Music Sharing App using Nearby API.

Posted: 06 Jun 2016 09:11 AM PDT

Hi guys,

Seeing how difficult it is to switch audio from one phone to another while driving made me realize that we need something better. Something so simple that doesn't cause distraction but also allows everyone to request their favorite tunes. With this motivation, I made a simple music sharing app using Google Nearby API as a side project. The awesome thing about Nearby API is that all devices do not have to be on the same network to communicate with each other.

The app is mainly used for special occasions such as family picnics, road trips, and parties. A host device can choose to play music from either YouTube or Spotify, with various playback modes. You can also filter out requests using PIN Access and Verified User mode.

Sharing music is also pretty simple. Unless the host device is setup to require authentication, you can search and share music anonymously without logging in.

Here is a demo clip of the app in action:

Some high res gifs of the app:

The app is available on Play Store for free without any ads: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fuzzdota.maddj.dev.release

If you have any question, feel free to ask. I will try to answer as much as possible.

Someone point me to an alarm clock app that lets me "skip next alarm"

Posted: 06 Jun 2016 01:34 AM PDT

Like next to your list of alarms there's a button that lets you skip an alarm or better yet sleep it for an input number of days. If this doesn't exist someone make it and I'll buy it.

[REQUEST] Is there any app similar to a Gallery for document files?

Posted: 06 Jun 2016 08:52 AM PDT

Hi!

Could someone help me find an app which displays ONLY the documents (pdf, doc, txt etc) in my phone organised by directory?

So somewhat like a Gallery app which, on opening, shows a list of all folders which contain an image (with a preview of the images inside them) and then allows me to drill down into the folder to see images and sub-folders in it which contain images and so on.

Not exactly looking for a full blown file explorer. Something simpler than that - a gallery for documents only if you will.

[DEV] XM Bookmark TEST

Posted: 06 Jun 2016 08:41 AM PDT

I am trying to test out a new bookmark app. The link is here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.melb.gazelle

unfortunately the screenshots I had were flagged for copyright because it has the steam logo this is what It looks like

http://i.imgur.com/ygKOgRn.png

How it works is when your on chrome browser use the share button with this app. The app shows you all the bookmarks you have added, it groups the bookmarks based on the website. Scroll up and down for different websites, and scroll left and right for different pages in that website. I am trying to test the main UI component which is the cross media bar

Looking for the music playing / managing app to end all others (so to speak)

Posted: 05 Jun 2016 07:10 PM PDT

So, I'm actually new to having an android, and a phone in general. Up until now, I've been using my PS Vita to play music. But it seems silly to carry a Vita around to play my music when I have a smartphone at hand. Especially when I'm such an avid listener of music.

My question is this, since it's pretty hard to actually search on google for apps that do this, apparently...spent the last few hours trying and testing out players. I'm looking for a music managing / playing app that will let me sort my songs by details such as...year released, genre, mood, artist, album, among other nitpicky things such as length, BPM, etc.

I'd like to be able to select "Swing" as my genre and automatically play all of my songs listed as Swing. Or play only songs released in 1993, or any sort of thing like that. Or if I'm feeling like I want to listen to happy / silly songs to lift my mood. I can change all of these details on my computer, but I'd like an app to be able to play songs based on these details. Ideally, I'd like to be able to modify these details on the fly, as well.

I've seen folder-based systems, where you can put music into folders and play it like that, but correct me if I'm wrong, it wouldn't automatically put them into folders based on their details, and having 1 song in 3 folders would mean 3 copies of the song taking up space, no? Unless I'm missing something about how the apps I've tried work.

I just want to know if an app even exists for what I want; just one that can automatically sort and play my music based on the same details I can modify on my computer (and again, bonus if I can modify the details via the actual app, too.)

[DEV] Sweech wifi file transfer (xpost /r/android)

Posted: 05 Jun 2016 03:23 PM PDT

Let me introduce the app I have been developping lately : Sweech

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sweech

It aims to be simple wireless file transfer utility to copy files from and to your computer.

Open the app and press the start button, it displays an access URL. Open this URL in your computer's web browser and you can access to the files, photos or documents on your phone. You may also copy files from your computer to your Android device. It's like using a "wireless USB key"

You may also browse the picture library to easily retrieve your weekend photos

The interface is compatible with desktop computers but also with any mobile web browser (Android phone, tablet, iPhone or iPad). No app installation is required on the other device, just use your web browser

The mobile's URL can easily be transfered with Android Beam (NFC) or a QR code.

It's also possible to select a brunch of files and share them with a shorteded URL without having to share the complete mobile content

The app is free without any ads or trial period. Some security features are proposed as In-App purchase (HTTPS, connection filtering…) but the app is totally usable without purchasing it.

Feedback welcome !

How to buy single, cheap app on Google Play and don't waste money?

Posted: 06 Jun 2016 07:18 AM PDT

Hello, firstly I tried to find tips in google and reddit, but no luck. So my question here:

How can I buy a single app in Google Play in most efficient way? It costs ca. 1€ so I don't want to buy 10€ gift card (the cheapest I have found). Giving credit information, buying and then withdrawing credit info seems redundant - but is there any other way...? I'm sure I won't buy any other app ever, nor use microtransactions.

Users predict match outcomes, they compete against other players like friends, colleagues or family in private challenges, and Matchguess does the rest (predictions evaluation, rankings, statistics, notifications).

Now, place your bets, players are ready to play!

Keyboard with T9 option?

Posted: 05 Jun 2016 10:06 PM PDT

I'm looking for a good keyboard app that has a T9 layout option with decent prediction. I use TouchPal at the moment but it seems to have gone down the shitter with crapware and popups.

Anyone know of any suggestions?

Thanks

[REQUEST] A widget that shows the album cover of the current playing song in Spotify?

Posted: 05 Jun 2016 11:20 AM PDT

Just the album cover, not controls.

I use Jack's Music Widget and it can kinda do this but only one size, whereas I would like to be able to freely resize it. Has to work with Spotify.

Any help would be appreciated (:
