Black and White Film Emulator

Posted: 28 May 2016 09:02 AM PDT

I used to have an app called black on WP and am looking for something similar. Has anyone used this app? It only has one rating an appears to have the same description as an app posted on XDA with the exact same description...which had the same description as the one I had on WP. Not very confident in this app.

Looking for a service/process/activity logging app. Also, a service/process/activity disabler

Posted: 28 May 2016 09:01 AM PDT

I'm currently using Lightning Wall (xposed), DisableService, Autostarts, and My Android Tools to track down and eliminate superfluous background data connections and services.

Lightning Wall's logging is GREAT for identifying activities that are net-targeted, however it does nothing to show purely local service/process executions. Everything I can find only shows CURRENTLY running stuff rather than a log of things which HAVE been run but are currently inactive.

Additionally, since My Android Tools is unable to access its own activities in order to selectively shut them down (services yes... but not activities) I was hoping someone could suggest a program with the same functionality so I can remove MAT's netcalls.

Is it possible to disable trending searches in Google Now?

Is it possible to disable trending searches in Google Now. For example http://i.imgur.com/mDaJ0X4l.jpg I don't want to see spoilerific trends such as "Is X main character really dead?" and honestly I don't care what other people are searching for.

[Request] Looking for camera app that can do certain things (read description)

Posted: 28 May 2016 07:29 AM PDT

I'm trying to find a camera app to use to take 3D stereographic images like the ones posted at /r/crossview. There are a few dedicated apps out there itended for this exact use, but none of them are any good. I'm willing to pay for one if it's not free. Here are the things I need an app to do:

  1. If you take 1 picture, then want to take another, the 1st image needs to be overlayed on the screen while I'm trying to take the 2nd image. This allows me to easily line up certain parts in the images.

  2. Have a level indicator showing if I'm holding my phone straight.

  3. Have manual light and focus control.

Number 1. is the most important feature.

Kwgt widget problems.

This has always been my favorite clock widget app, however after a recent format I can't seem to get it to work. Whenever I choose the clock theme I like it automatically reverts to a basically unusable theme. I've reinstalled a few times and no change. Is anyone else having this problem?

[DEV] Onion Force Indie Game Giveaway- Hybrid Tower Defense/Action Adventure Game- 100 Promo Codes

Posted: 27 May 2016 05:43 PM PDT

Hey guys!

We are a husband/wife team and are wanting to spread the word about our first game 'Onion Force' launched a couple of months ago. The whole game was made by one person (except music) who used to be a former Disney animator. Discoverability is hard, and it's even more difficult being a small team with no marketing budget/support, and having a premium game. We are looking to spread the word some more. It's a hybrid tower defense/action adventure game with rpg twist. It's pretty challenging, so aimed more at core/hardcore gamers. We do have a few casuals that have ended up loving it so we certainly don't want to pigeon hole.

Here is the trailer to see if it's something you would enjoy:

Here is the link for the promo codes.

If you do have fun with it, please leave us a review, we would super appreciate that.

Thanks so much for the support!

How do non-Google Photos users sync photos to Google Drive?

Posted: 28 May 2016 12:01 AM PDT

I'm a longtime Android user but am only just now setting up my Google account to actually be used usefully, rather than just using its details to populate fields for things that require it. I find my phone is constantly running out of space because it has too many photos stored on it, so I would like to auto-sync them to Google Drive (and if possible auto-delete them from the phone once they're uploaded).

I typically keep my photo collection on my PC locally, so I just want to send all my photos to Drive until I can sort through them and delete or download to keep as necessary. I have absolutely no need for a gallery interface or any of the extra stuff Google Photos supplies, and after reading about how the two interact I don't think Google Photos is of any use to me and I don't need another app taking up the space I'm trying to save. I also keep reading that Google Drive lets you just straight sync photos to it but then the fine print is always that you can only sync Google Photos from the app, not just any photos.

Basically, I just want to sync my photos like files and not have them sorted automatically or given any sort of special treatment just because they're photos. Is there any app or service that can achieve this kind of backup? TIA!

Google Music does not seem to read MP3 information

Posted: 27 May 2016 09:28 PM PDT

I have music on my phone of course, however it does not seem to read the information such as album cover, artist, ect. It read it before, but little by little is started to stop reading it, I found that moving file locations around seems to reset it sometimes, other times it causes the problem. Other applications do read it however.

Galleryapp, Quickpic or Piktures?

Posted: 27 May 2016 09:23 AM PDT

Hey guys What would be the best gallery app? I've tried QuickPic before Cheetah bought it and I liked it - is the 4.5.2 version still worth a try? (the last one before Cheetah)

Other than that I've heard good things about Piktures, anyone tried it and care to tell me why it should be an alternative, if it should? Sync/cloud services isn't a must but I dont mind it.

Just bought a Nexus 6P for Project Fi. I need to record phone calls w/ the insurance company.

Posted: 27 May 2016 09:17 AM PDT

I'm switching from my iPhone to Project Fi via the 6P. While not for this reason of course, I do find myself needing to be able to automatically record both incoming and outgoing phone calls with whatever party I choose. In this case, that's the health insurance companies.

Before anyone jumps in about recording notifications and law, I already checked: Texas, where I live, is a one-party state. I'm the one party since I'm recording the call. And frankly, even if it wasn't court-admissible I don't care; last ditch option, I can shame them on YouTube (after beeping-over sensitive data of course).

Ideally - and I stress "ideally" - this is what I'd like to have happen.

  • First, it does NOT need to be "free". I'd much rather pay ONCE for something good than get spammed, nickeled and dimed to death by IAP, ads, and general crapware.
  • I'd prefer to pay for the app itself once and have a perpetual license. I'm OK with a monthly fee for the service itself as long as I can sign up and cancel at any time and have it available immediately. (Maybe I sign up and use it for the series of phone calls planned now, then don't need that feature anymore so cancel afterward. Then next year around the time Obamacare screws us all again, I want that feature again so I'd like to sign up and not have to wait hours/days/whatever to use it.)
  • However the recordings are saved - either on the phone directly or in a cloud service - I need to be able to both pull down a raw audio file (say a *.wav, maybe an *.mp3 or something, whatever's fine as long as it's based in a real standard, not some weird proprietary format).
  • Should be an app from a known, trusted developer, or one with lots of users so it has a large install base of people who, if there was a privacy/spying problem, would at least have a high-enough probability that somebody would have found it by now. This is doubly true for app vendors in places like China (who've been spying on innocent citizens longer than the US, even though my blood boils in rage about the latter...)
  • Must work with the features of the Project Fi software. If it requires a custom dialer that might "force" the phone to be on GSM or CDMA as opposed to wifi with the automatic call migration features of Fi, well it's a workflow and UX fail by definition.

...and finally, the most important feature by far...

Must include Dancing Hamsters

CHALLENGE ISSUED!

Yes, I'm joking about the dancing hamsters. 😜

I work nights. This means I need functionality similar to iOS's "DND" mode.

Posted: 27 May 2016 09:33 AM PDT

I work nights. Specifics unimportant. Because of this, and the fact that I'm switching to a Nexus 6P for Project Fi, I need to find a way to implement something similar to the "DND" mode in iOS.

If you're unfamiliar with the iOS DND mode, a brief explanation: turn it on by swiping up from the bottom, press the moon icon. Turn it off the same way. While on, absolutely zero calls ring, and zero notifications happen. The only exceptions are (possibly, never tested thankfully) national emergencies/major goverment safety alerts, and depending on settings, if I mark some one as a "favorite" in the IOS phone app, if THEY call from that contact's known number(s) my phone will ring in spite of being in DND mode.

My needs are really simple honestly. All I want is a workflow like this:

While in this "STFU IMMA SLEEP" mode:

  • Notifications from apps are ignored. No sound, no vibration, no blinky blinky on the lights.
  • All calls either go straight to voicemail, or are at the very least entirely silent so they don't wake me up. Voicemail notifications are recorded but nothing done with/because of them (no sound, no vibration, no blinky blinky).
  • UNLESS I MARK A GIVEN CONTACT AS "WHITELISTED" in some way. Say I know there's a chance that work might call me to save their ass (yet again, lol) from an "emergency" of some kind. I want to put my co-workers and boss's phone numbers on some kind of "approved" list so that WHEN THEY CALL, THE PHONE RINGS AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE, VIBRATES ENOUGH TO CAUSE AN EARTHQUAKE, AND THAT BLINKY BLINKY GOES OFF ENOUGH TO MAKE A DISCO BALL LOOK DIM AND SLOW.

...yeah I'm a heavy sleeper. 😜

Ideally this would be a built-in feature of the operating system somehow. I haven't yet seen anything of the latest version of Android (my last Android phone from a couple years ago is just recently getting version 5, I think; I'm going nexus or nothing from now on haha!), so if that's a feature of Marshmallow, just let me know (and give me some tips/links to a guide if there's a quirk or complication that's not obvious).

Otherwise, I'm totally willing to pay money for a GOOD app that'll do this and do it well. It's okay if it's an IAP as long as I only have to do it once and can restore if I put the app on a brand new phone or totally "formatted" version of my 6P at some point in the future. I'd rather, however, buy it directly once and that's that.

*No, I'm not going to root this phone and I'll definitely not install some APK from some random source. This needs to come from the Play store or in some other way have some way to "verify" that it's been at least checked at the basic level for privacy issues, sending data out somewhere for some/no apparent reason, draining the battery or otherwise using way more power than it should (indicative of a bug or less-than-legitimate background activity).

Basically I just want a good app that isn't the standard crapware I usually wind up seeing on the Play store, and I'm willing to pay for it.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

Embedding Position in an E-mail

Posted: 27 May 2016 05:19 PM PDT

Does anyone know a way of quickly and easily embedding a link in an e-mail that would provide my current location?

So the addressees open the e-mail, read the text, and somewhere at the bottom is a simple link that says, maybe, "I am here". If they click on that, maybe it takes you to Google Maps and shows you the sender's location when the e-mail was sent.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Poweramp Battery Broblem

Posted: 27 May 2016 02:01 PM PDT

Hello,

Today, I finally find the time to submit this post.

I am a poweramp pro version user. Most of the time my phone battery goes down really quick. As you can see from the secreenshot (bottom), it eats almost the whole battery. My phone sat in front of my computer all the time. I did not even make 10mins of phone call. This problem started after I installed poweramp.

I do not know why this is happening. My phone is Samsung Galaxy Note 2, stockrom, rooted.

Have you ever heard of this problem before? Is there a solution? Also its been more than 2 months since I purchased this app. Can I request a refund because it does not work properly?

Thanks.

edit. sorry for stupid spell error

An app to meet new people in real life!

Posted: 27 May 2016 02:15 PM PDT

So having gotten frustrated with dating apps and realizing that nothing will ever beat meeting people in real life, I decided to make an app that would actually help people meet each other in the real world.

We did a soft launch on iOS earlier this year and the feedback we received was amazing, so we decided to work on an Android version as well, which we just released.

I would love to get some feedback on it from the great people on this subreddit.

The app is called Magma, and with this app, you "check-in" to your location and see everyone else who is also checked into your location (and everyone nearby (within a radius that you can set). You can then "Break The Ice" with them in the app.

You can find the app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magmallc.magma&hl=en

Hope you guys like it! Please let me know what you think.
