[DEV] Auracle Music Player - Taking Control of your music playback experience Posted: 02 Jan 2017 08:17 AM PST Taking Control of Your Music Playback ExperienceWhen I first started working on Auracle, I wanted a music player that could play music the way I wanted it to be played. I wanted to be able to choose whatever song came up next, or even make an album or playlist play next. I would often forget the name of a song, but I knew the words, so I wanted to be able to search by the lyrics. I also wanted it to be beautifully designed, but alas… I was only a programmer. My visual design skills included a basic understanding of Microsoft Paint, and that was about it. I could make something work, but making it a joy to look at and use was a different matter. I was determined, so I decided to start with what I knew best: the code that went into making an app. Fast forward a couple of months and now I have a very basic prototype which could play music, shuffle, skip songs, and add songs to a queue. It's a cool spring day in April of 2014 and I'm browsing /r/Android, when a post by /u/jessecoleman caught my eye. It was a submission to Taylor Ling's (a Google Developer Expert and Material Design Award Winner) Android Design contest. In his submission, Cole had designed a beautiful music player by the name of Eve. It featured work that clearly showed how much he cared about controlling the music playback experience with a queue. The contest wasn't over yet, but I had to reach out to him. I sent Cole the app I had so far, and after getting it working on his phone, he agreed to work with me on making his mockups, now our dream, a reality. A few weeks later Cole was announced a winner of the design contest and now, we finally have a working beta to share with you! Introducing Auracle: A queue based music playerHere is an imgur album showcasing the many features of Auracle. Auracle's Features:
You can try out Auracle today by joining this Google+ community then signing up to be a tester here It takes a few minutes for the app to be available when you sign up for testing, so if the link doesn't work immediately, wait a couple minutes then try refreshing. [link] [comments] |

Best organizer calendar To Do apps for a noob? Posted: 02 Jan 2017 07:30 AM PST It's that time of year again, for resolutions etc. I just got my first real smart phone (very computer savvy, but had little apparent need for a true smartphone until now) (Motorola Moto G4 Plus btw). What's the current best way to get organized, in particular for calendar, to do lists, and shopping lists? I found this thread from two years ago, recommending Evernote, Google Calendar, Drive, Tasks, Keep, Quickoffice,, Digical, ... Another recent thread I've found MinimaList It's hard as a noob to understand which app serves which function(s). As of right now, the functions I envision are TO DO lists with due dates/reminders, a calendar for appointments, and a shopping list (perhaps doable as a TODO list). What is the current best setup for such organizational tasks? TIA! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Jan 2017 04:45 AM PST I wanna get peeps thoughts on this app that i'm building. I have been obsessed with consumer stuff as of late, so I wanted to build an app that would help me buy fuel at a really good price. You input fuel prices each time you observe one and it will keep a record over the last 60 days and give you the low and median prices over some intervals. There is also a floating headsup display where is shows you the lowest price so you can have it on while using google maps http://i.imgur.com/tgkv4Y2.png [link] [comments] |
Looking for Comic widget. Does it exist? Posted: 02 Jan 2017 06:14 AM PST I love reading Dilbert comics. I don't love having to spend 4 seconds of my life navigating to find it. Is there a widget where it will automatically put the daily comic on one of my home screens without having to move a finger? This is my Holy Grail. [link] [comments] |

I don't know whether this is the right sub or not? Posted: 02 Jan 2017 12:43 AM PST I use Google Photos a lot to back up all photos I take with my phone... No I also download pictures a lot from Pinterest, but because they automatically save within the DCIM folder, GPhotos takes this as a camera image and backs it up, is there anyway that I can change the default location that Pinterest images save? [Request] Can anyone help me find an old Palm OS game called "Bucky" available for Android Posted: 01 Jan 2017 08:03 PM PST It was a game I played years ago on a Palm Pilot, I was just wondering if there was an APK available somewhere for it, I could exactly find it. Looking for an App widget that countdowns anything you want Posted: 02 Jan 2017 10:09 AM PST Hey everyone, I use "Onavo Count" to track my data consumption and it has a widget I can place on my homescreen showing me the days left in my data plan and the data I have used. It only has the options to display a 30 or 28 day period, and my data plan expires every 23 days, so I have to keep resetting it manualy every time. Do any of you know of an app that allows me to place a widget in my homescreen so I can track count downs of anything I want (for example the days in my data plan, how many days left until a concert, or a movie) Essentially a "count down" app that allows me to place a label on each of the countdowns I would use and is also a widget that I can place on my homescreen. Bonus points if the widget is resizeable and you can further modify it appart from the time/days and title. Thanks in advance for the help! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Jan 2017 10:03 AM PST I was wondering if anyone has any idea what causes audio to 'stutter' once in a while when listening to music on android? It tends to happen about once every 15 minutes or so, depending on the app I'm using to listen. Sounds like a single 'blip' or cut in the track. Some apps are a lot worse (like n7 player) and some are better (like phonograph). I have recently upgraded to a Moto z play, but I distinctly remember the issue cropping up a lot on my previous two phones as well - a nexus s and then a nexus 5. On both occasions I got around the problem by rooting and flashing a custom ROM, but that isn't an option on the z play right now. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks for reading folks [link] [comments] |
