RCS update to Google messenger on Sprint is working!

Posted: 08 Dec 2016 12:29 PM PST

Myself and /u/Naturesbflol have been messaging here and there since the last big post about RCS on Sprint. We'll he messaged me a few minutes ago and we can confirm that it is working. We are going to test group chat functionality next but so far you see the typing dots like in imessage and it shows you when your message has been sent, delivered and read. Screen shots below. For the record I'm using a V20 he is using a moto g4 as the 3rd phone for the group chat that we are about to test. Sorry if they are out of order, I tried to upload them in order. I added him to my contacts that's why there is a red color before I added him and blue afterwards.

Edit: new screenshots here.

Edit2: if anyone wants to try it out but doesn't know anyone else on Sprint PM me and we can chat

[DISCUSSION] I just realized we've come full circle with the app drawer

Posted: 08 Dec 2016 11:00 AM PST

I was sitting here playing with Nova Launcher's app drawer settings and it hit me: we've come full circle.

In the early days of android there wasn't a dock with icons where one was an "all apps" button necessarily but rather a pull open drawer full of apps. Then we moved to the "all apps" button style which lasted a very long time slowly being modified through different android design styles until we finally come back to a drawer that you pull open. They say everything is cyclical, and I found it kinda funny that it even applies to Android.

PSA: Cerberus "Block Status Bar" option has a significant security flaw

Posted: 08 Dec 2016 11:10 AM PST

FYI for folks that are using this with cerberus, their implementation is poor and has significant a flaw. If you drag down on the clock widget on the lock screen (or any notification on the lock screen), it will expand the notification tray and thus the settings just as if you didn't have this enabled. If you don't drag down from the very top, it will recognize the gesture still expand the notification/setting tiles like normal.

The way they prevent the settings access is by blocking touch registration at the top of the screen (where you'd usually drag the tray down from).

Their security implementation for this is essentially no security. I found this out by accident when playing with my lock screen and found the settings tiles was expanding even with this setting checked. I assume a not-nice-to-do person will discover this too.

That combined with their implementation blocking the camera setting buttons (these show up in the section of screen where touch input is rejected) if you launch the camera without unlocking the phone made this feature in cerberus pointless to me.
