This weekly Sunday thread is for you to let off some steam and speak out about whatever complaint you might have about:
Rules 1) Please do not target any individuals or try to name/shame any individual. If you hate Google/Samsung/HTC etc. for one thing that is fine, but do not be rude to an individual app developer. 2) If you have a suggestion to solve another user's issue, please leave a comment but be sure it's constructive! We do not want any flame-wars. 3) Be respectful of other's opinions. Even if you feel that somebody is "wrong" you don't have to go out of your way to prove them wrong. Disagree politely, and move on. [link] [comments]

Can we talk about the messaging app Signal? Posted: 11 Dec 2016 12:50 PM PST I've been using Signal for a few days. Previously this year I used Textra and then Messenger by Google. I'm really impressed by Signal. I'm using it as my complete messaging app (SMS, and everything else). A couple of my associates use it too and we can message securely. Pretty neat. Textra has cool features. I really liked the drop down notifications and replies from Textra. Fortunately, Signal seems to have almost exactly the same ones! So using Textra is moot now unless you like customizing colors a lot. Messenger by Google was beautiful and simple. I liked the different colors by conversation and it was a great design. Signal seems to be taking the best from Google's Messenger client as well. I had also, in the past, used a secure messaging service but Signal also incorporates that! It is the end of searching for messengers for me. I love it! (iPhone users can get it too, but we all know you can't change default apps on iPhone, sorry for them!). So I am just really surprised and happy with it. Thought you guys should know. [link] [comments]
Do you guys encrypt your phone? Posted: 11 Dec 2016 02:26 PM PST Just wondering how many of you encrypt your phones. I'm thinking of enabling it on the Galaxy S5 that I'm using currently but because its 32bit it might kill its performance.... [link] [comments]

/r/Android, what are your favourite phone accessories? Posted: 11 Dec 2016 01:11 PM PST I always get the usual accessories when I get a phone. Case(s), screen protectors, etc. What are your favourite accessories for your phone or to complement your phone? Feel free to recommend a particular brand, but try not to get too shill-ey. Shower Thought: Why not 2 USB ports? Posted: 11 Dec 2016 06:23 PM PST Ever since the rumor of Samsung potentially not including a 3.5mm headphone jack on the S8, I've been thinking of this obvious solution. Why not include two USB-C ports? This way, you will be able to use USB headphones while simultaneously charging. Also considering USB-OTG devices and the transition of "a computer in your pocket", this will allow for connecting to monitors/TVs without needing an adapter to charge. The obvious limitation is that of space, but Samsung has shown that they're not afraid to make a phone thicker (S6 to S7) for essential functions. I'm not an engineer, but I doubt that a second USB port would be much larger/bulkier than a headphone port. It would also be nice to choose which side of the phone to use wired headphones or to charge, as I've encountered situations where either the top or the bottom was preferred. With Apple and now Samsung moving on this direction, what are the chances that other manufacturers might adopt this idea? [link] [comments]

What is the phone that will never die? Posted: 11 Dec 2016 07:53 PM PST What phone do you think will never die, like htc hd2 or maybe some galaxy s phones or first/second nexus phone. [link] [comments]
Why does everyone love stock Android so much? Posted: 11 Dec 2016 06:36 PM PST Maybe I'm just not as picky, but I've used LGs skin, Touchwiz, MIUI, HTCs skin, and of course the vanilla Nexus builds. I'm honestly confused why people make such a big deal about this, and I'm hoping you folks can fill me in. Other than Touchwiz and MIUI, I didn't find such a massive difference where I remotely cared about the changes. Nova changes the home screen, and the notification bar seems awfully similar to me in most builds. [link] [comments]

What phone was the worst device for it's time? Posted: 11 Dec 2016 05:54 PM PST The most obvious ones are crappy budget phones like the Galaxy Mini and the Huawei Ascend Y101. However there were some that were horrible because of technical problems or overhyped marketing... So, r/Android, which devices were the worst? [link] [comments] |
