Found a fix for Gboard on Android for being slow

Posted: 30 Dec 2016 04:40 AM PST

For those complaining about Gboard being slow at loading suggestions, switching between languages, loading autocorrect, etc.. I have finally found a fix for that.

Go to Gboard settings > Text correction > disable both 'Suggest contact names' and 'Personalized suggestions'. You will find everything loads as instant as it used to be.

Also I found that disabling/uninstalling the keyboard will only temporarily fix the problem but it will appear again after syncing previously learned words.

Please let me know if this helped you.

Update: I have noticed that the issue sometimes returns even when both options are disabled while the stock Battery Saver mode is on.

What's the worst experience you've ever had with Android?

For me, it was the LG Optimus GT540 - Android 1.6, horribly slow and incapable of doing basically anything.

What is your fantasy feature?

Posted: 29 Dec 2016 07:13 PM PST

I recently dropped my Note 5 for a Moto Z Play because I couldn't live with 3 hours of screen on time after my Note 5 battery became unusable due to "normal wear and tear" (aka owning the phone for over a year).

No exaggeration, my Z Play sees 10 hours of screen on time through the most rigorous of days. It's actually quite impressive. Yet, I find myself wanting more. It really burns me up that I have to charge my phone at all.

So, barring reality, my fantasy feature would be a battery that never dies. What about you, r/Android? What single feature in a phone would cause you to stay with it (or the brand) for life?
