Complete noob trying to make a Tesla Interface for my Corolla. Any advice?

So like most young adults, I can't afford a Tesla. Instead, I've got a 98 corolla.

I've always loved the way the small dash display looks on the Tesla and how there's a view of your car from above and when a car passes you on your sides or corners, a little yellow sort of highlight shape appears near the graphic of the car. It also gets bigger or smaller depending on how close an object is. I'd post a link to a video of this in action but I'm on mobile.

My plan is to implement this feature but in my corolla. The way it works is to have a few ultrasonic sensors around my car. They'd all be connected to an Arduino which calculates the actual distances from each sensor. Then the Arduino would send all the sensor data to a Bluetooth module which would then send that to a phone or tablet. The Android device would have an app which opens up and looks almost exactly like the actual Tesla dash interface minus the GPS and other features.

I've worked with the Arduino before and have been able to view data sent from the Arduino to my phone with a Bluetooth terminal app. I know for me, the hardest part of this project is the Android app. I have some C and Python experience but no Java. I've looked into working with Bluetooth and the Android dev documents seem to be pretty well written to understand. I'll also have to find a way to get images to move and zoom in my interface depending in the sensor values.

Does anyone have any tips or resources I can take a look at to get started? I'd love to know if someone else has done a project like this or similar too!

Thanks for your help!

Posted: 04 Dec 2016 09:58 PM PST

Guys I am tearing my hair out here. Does Admob support mediation for native ads express? I check this link

https://support.google.com/admob/answer/3124703?hl=en&ref_topic=3063091

I don't find any button when I try to add a new ad network for a native ad. But when I try the same for banner ads, I see the button. What gives?

I am trying to use ad mob mediation for FAN and admob.

Converting a TODO app to Kotlin

Posted: 04 Dec 2016 10:20 AM PST

I few months ago I started learning Kotlin. After doing the Kotlin Koans online I decided it was time to try it out in an Android project. So I started converting the TODO app from the android-architecture project.

I am also writing a few articles about the conversion process on my blog. I hope you find them interesting.

At the moment I have converted just the data package. My fork can be found here.

Feel free to comment on the code or the articles.

I would like to point out I was not the only one interested in a Kotlin version. In this issue you can find a link to another Kotlin fork which has more code converted. I am continuing with my fork because I want to continue writing these articles.

Tax Question for selling app with new tablets

Posted: 04 Dec 2016 11:34 AM PST

I developed an app and want to sell it (in Califoria US, maybe world wide) preloaded on a device. I'm buying new devices and can't get them at whole sale price so I pay retail plus sales tax. Do I have to charge sales tax and have a sellers permit?
