Question about Android messaging prediction. Posted: 02 Sep 2016 01:47 PM PDT (originally on r/android but redirected here due rule 2) So I was playing around with the instant messaging predict (where you just pick the word it guesses will be the next one in your sentence) on my Samsung Android and need an explanation for how this happened; The Android IM auto-predicted a sentence from a book I wrote years ago. I kind of laughed when it predicted the name of my protagonist to start a sentence and then it went on to predict/recall the entire sentence. I have no idea how this would have happened and wondering if someone here could explain it to me. I've never sent this sentence out as part of an IM, nor have I ever sent any part of the book out via my phone in any way. I just switched to Android from Iphone about a year ago. The sentence is not a chapter starter but rather quite random from somewhere in the middle of the book. I'm at a loss to even come up with a theory on how this happened. Thanks to anyone who might have an idea. [link] [comments] |
Is there an emoji I'm missing?! (or several) Posted: 02 Sep 2016 03:00 PM PDT This has been bothering me and recently started driving me crazy. I have an LG v10, all up yo date. No 3rd party emoji apps. And I'd say 20% of the time emojis are involved they show up as a white box with an X in it. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2016 10:26 AM PDT My Samsung S5 is telling me that I only have 194 MB left on internal phone storage, but I've tried for 2 weeks to figure out what's taking up my space and haven't been able to figure it out. When I plug the phone into my computer it shows http://imgur.com/a/BolRs But when I explore the phone and check the file sizes I see this http://imgur.com/a/O62Ml So it seems like I should only have 2GB used up? I made sure to show hidden files through Windows explorer. This is driving me crazy! Please help! [link] [comments] |

CM 13 / SuperSU-v2.46 bootloop. Posted: 02 Sep 2016 09:18 AM PDT This is a known issue and there's nothing to distinguish the problem I'm having with what I'm reading on the xda forums My question is, is there a fix? Some people are suggesting conflicting solutions with variable success. The main three fixes I'm seeing are.
Every combination of these solutions yields six different ways to go about this. Perhaps you could save me sometime and show me the way? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
How do I turn off notification reminders in Nougat? Posted: 02 Sep 2016 12:34 PM PDT I do not see an option under settings>accessibility to do so. Has this menu moved in Nougat? [link] [comments] |
My 5x never updated to 7.0, will flashing the OTA image update without wiping? Posted: 02 Sep 2016 01:43 PM PDT https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/ota I got the Project Fi phone and use it with t-mobile. However no OTA!!! I would really like to not wipe the phone. [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to get the LG Android skin on a non LG phone? Posted: 02 Sep 2016 01:27 PM PDT I personally love the LG's Android skin, but I do not like their phones. Is there a way to get it on a non LG device? [link] [comments] |
Best way to back up apps and layout (screens, folders, widgets) for Note 7 stock Posted: 02 Sep 2016 01:22 PM PDT Since we can't do anything to our phones anymore sadly, what's the most effective way to backup my apps and data hopefully, as well as our layout on screen. I spend a ton of time setting up my folders and widgets the way I like them. Is there a way? Do I need to be using a custom launcher? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Issues with a disabled secondary (work) account Posted: 02 Sep 2016 06:48 AM PDT Hi everyone, I have tried googling this and searching here but to no avail as the problem is quite weird/specific. The place I recently worked at use Gmail accounts for all work emails and I logged in to that account on my phone, tablet and Chrome on my PC. Having now left that place the IT guys have disabled the account. The issue I'm having is that initially my phone told me there was an issue with the account and I had to sign in, obviously this failed as the account is disabled. I then removed the account from my phone and Gmail apps but every now and then when I unlock my phone it will say "Signing in" or "Checking account details" (or something similar) and then fail and tell me to resign in to my work account. This surely shouldn't be happening as I've removed the account from my phone but it still keeps trying to sign in every now and then. On a side note the account is also still an option for me to switch to in Chrome on my PC despite me having removed it from there. Any help or ideas you could offer would be greatly appreciated as I've tried everything I could think of! Thanks! :) EDIT: Not sure if this will help but my phone is a Motorola Moto X (2014) unlocked and I'm in the UK on the EE network. [link] [comments] |

Can I git clone and run/make apks/apps on my android? Posted: 02 Sep 2016 11:15 AM PDT Thanks for reading this. I didn't find anything on Google. An example of what I want to do: Use my Android (rooted,4.4.4,no google apps), open terminal, git clone or wget latest wigle.net source for android from github and finally compile the app on my phone. so i do not have to be anywhere near to amazon or playstore. fdroid is not an option as the releases are outdated. Can that be done? How? [link] [comments] |
Samsung Galaxy S6 Boot Loop after Un-root Posted: 02 Sep 2016 05:44 AM PDT I rooted my device a few months ago, but have since not used anything root-related. I decided to unroot, by going into SuperSu and doing unroot that way. Since rebooting, my phone does not boot. It gets stuck in an infinite loop of the Samsung Galaxy logo, then black then the logo again. I can enter recovery mode and I have tried clearing cache and resetting to factory defaults. Neither of these solutions worked. I downloaded my stock firmware ROM in MD5 format, and Odin, but my phone is not showing up in Odin. My assumption is that I had USB debugging disabled. Not sure what else I can do, any help is EXTREMELY appreciated. Thanks in advance :) Model is SM-G920I I'm in Australia. [link] [comments] |
Auto landscape when video played in fullscreen Posted: 02 Sep 2016 02:19 PM PDT I keep my rotation off since I hate the screen orientation changing back and forth while browsing in bed. The youtube app has a cool feature that hitting fullscreen with automatically play the video in landscape. Is it possible to do so with browser based videos as well? [link] [comments] |
Wifi calling won't work on my lgg4, and I need it because I live without any cell service. Posted: 02 Sep 2016 02:18 PM PDT Every time I make a call it just says "no service" or whatever even though I have wifi calling and texting and "hd voice" and whatever enabled on my verizon lgg4. If I enable cell service it says the cell service is too bad to make a call, and if I try to make a call through wifi it says I am not connected to wifi even though I am and have 4 bars. I can make calls via wifi on my pc through gmail but to my knowledge can't receive them through there, and receiving calls on my cell phone is the important part. I can't find anything on google that tells me what is wrong so I figured I would come here. I have also tried hangouts dialer and it does the exact same thing, just doesn't make calls and I don't think it receives them either. [link] [comments] |
Transfer Word documents from tablet to PC w/o internet Posted: 02 Sep 2016 05:55 AM PDT So here's the story. I am currently in the market for a low-cost tablet to write reports on with a bluetooth keyboard so I don't have to lug around my 5 year old 15-inch behemoth laptop every day. My current hang up is how to transfer word documents from my tablet to a PC and nice versa. The building I am working in does not have wifi available to me and gets really poor cell reception so a hotspot is not a reliable option. The only solution I can think of is to use the micro USB port to move files to a USB drive and then take that drive to the PC.

Budget phone to get while saving for a new one? (HTC One M8 vs others) Posted: 02 Sep 2016 01:04 PM PDT Hey there. I recently busted up my LG G3 (after just having finished paying it off through T-Mobile... what a waste of money) and am looking to grab something in the meantime. I was tossing up either the G3 or the M8 at the time when I was buying the phone and I'm bummed I didn't just go with the M8 earlier. Anyway - I'm looking for something to keep me held over. The M8 had good build quality and would work just fine I'm sure. The nicest thing is that I can score one for less than $100 USD. I've been looking around and there aren't many budget phones that I can justify spending any more than $100-$150 on, especially since this is going to be a temporary deal. So: TL;DR: As of Sept. 2016, what is a good option for a relatively decent phone for the $100-$150 range? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2016 05:24 AM PDT I am trying to download a large YouTube video over a slow, unreliable connection. I kept the download running all night...when I checked it next day the internet had disconnected. Judging by the size of the .part file the download was about 60% complete. I reconnected and resumed the download it showed 0 bytes under its entry in Firefox and went into Failed while still in the Starting phase. I have tried resuming it multiple times so I know this is not a connection issue. Also I have saved a copy of the .part file at a different location. Is there any wy I can resume the download where it broke off? I am using Android 4.4.2 and Firefox 41.0 I obtained he video URL through Keepvid. [link] [comments] |
AT&T Lg G3 won't update android and has weird IMEI issues Posted: 02 Sep 2016 04:06 PM PDT When I saw the Pixel was gonna start at $499 I opted instead to replace the whole front end on my G3 and try to get another year out of it. After all, it's a great phone. I also realized that the phone was still running Android 5.0.1. Attempting to update via settings menu kept returning a message saying no updates available. I just spent the whole afternoon on the phone with AT&T and LG trying to fix this and here's the summary -If you look up the IMEI in the phone menus it shows as '0' If you dial *#06# it shows as 0-66. AT&T says whatever IMEI the phone is transmitting shows up on their end as a Samsung device. Their logs show updates have been pushed to the phone in the last month but never reached it. I feel my inability to receive updates is directly related to the issues with the IMEI -A call to LG reveals when they look up the IMEI the correct device is listed. I can confirm this on http://www.imei.info/
I'm currently waiting for 48 hrs before I am supposed to receive a call from AT&T support but I doubt they will even call, let alone be able to help me. I'd really like to figure this out as I just invested more money into the device to stave off buying a new one. I would say my technical knowledge skills are a bit above that of the average person, if that affects the responses/solutions people offer. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Galaxy S6/6.0 Marshmallow: How to install custom "charging" notification sound... Posted: 02 Sep 2016 03:38 PM PDT I have just rooted my new Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F) and have also changed the Text-notification and ringtone, now I want to change the sound the phone makes as I plug the charger in, but in the Settings menu under Sound the row for Charging Notification is just an On/Off switch, I can't click it and then choose a sound of my own. Is there any way I can force the phone to use my custom .mp3 for when I put the charger in? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2016 03:26 PM PDT I bought a Gear Fit2 yesterday, and when I was asked to update the software, I didn't think anything of it. For reference, I am syncing my Fit2 with a Galaxy S6, and the software on my Fit2 is: Samsung Gear 2.2.16070451 Gear Plugin 2.2.04.16080542 Now the battery life is abysmal - I charged it to 100% this morning, and by 2 PM the battery was drained. I haven't been able to try anything yet because the charger is at home, but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to why my battery drained so quickly. [link] [comments] |
