Which of the two are better for Android phones in terms of ui and functionality? I have accounts for both. I want to know which of the two are less intrusive in memory and battery.

Thanks for the feedback

[Dev] Read xkcd - A viewer App for the xkcd webcomic

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 06:02 AM PDT

Read xkcd is a viewer app for the xkcd webcomic. It has a fast search function and lets you share comics either as a link or as an image. For each comic, Read xkcd can show additional information and an explanation. When a new comic is published, the app will show you a notification. You can also add comics to your favorites, so you can easily access them later. The app has a night mode that can be activated manually or be configured to activate automatically during a specific period of the day.

You can download the app on Google Play.

Make calls to businesses from the search app, and get more opinion reward surveys?

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 02:26 AM PDT

This is possibly well-known already, apologies if so.

I needed to call a business the other day and had to search for their number. I then called from within the search app.

This morning I've just had an opinion rewards survey asking about that specific call. So if you want more surveys, it might be worth calling via search (even for places where you already know or have the number)

Action Launcher 3 Question

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 08:27 AM PDT

I just loaded up Action Launcher 3 on my HTC One E8, and I went to add widgets, and I noticed that the native HTC widgets were available to add (which were not available on Nova), such as data toggles, HTC Flip Clock, etc.. I've used Action Launcher 3 before and never noticed this. Is this a feature of AL3 or are native widgets going to be available for third party launchers?

Edit: Follow-up, I just switched to Nova Launcher to check something, and the HTC native widgets are available as well. This is new! I like this.

Does anyone use an old version of Snapchat? Which version do you recommend?

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 07:15 AM PDT

Lately Snapchat has been running terribly on my phone. I remember previous versions ran smoother and I was wondering if anyone knew which version runs best while keeping any feature I would need.

Linear Algebra Matrix puzzle Game?

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 09:49 AM PDT

Hello, I am studying matrices in linear algebra and I am trying to get better and better at finding the quickest ways to simplify them. Are there any apps out there that could help me practice? I'm not looking for a random problem generator, or a matrix calculator. My girlfriend is also about to begin studying, and I think it would be great if we could find a game out there to help us have fun while we learn.

[DEV] Codex // A Combining Puzzle Game where you have to think horizontally

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 09:39 AM PDT

Game can be downloaded here

Playing Codex is relatively easy:

You try to get two blocks of the same shape and "filling level" nearby to combine them to a new single block with a higher filling level. One a block is completely filled, it will dissappear and you earn 150 points.

The playing area consists of a 5x7-grid in which you can only move a whole row to move blocks. After each move you earn points depending on how high the filling level is or how many blocks combined after the last move (Combos). You can only move again once every possible Combo has happened.

There are three Modes:

► TIMED MODE ◄ Get as many points as you can in 60 seconds

► 30-MOVES-MODE ◄ Get as many points as you can with 30 moves

► ARCADE MODE ◄ Play until the grid is full

Every points you earn will be added to your credit which you can use to buy powerups.

There are two types of powerups

► Delete a whole row ► Shuffle all existing blocks

The running Arcade-Game will be saved (if not aborted by game over) and you may continue playing at any time. Powerups are available at any time in every gamemode - It is advisable to collect points for powerups in timed or 30 moves mode while playing an arcade game. Also you can get points by viewing an ad or doint In-App-Purchases.

Have fun! :)

Full Screen Mode on Touch Wiz

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 09:25 AM PDT

I'm using Note 3 with Note 4 Dark Lord custom TouchWiz at 5.0.1 I read a lot on the phone and it gets annoying when the status bar consumes the screen real estate.

Is there anyway to get rid of that or hide that, without Xposed? I tried the GMD and Immersive Mode from play store; they're broken atleast for me. Xposed kind of drains the battery when I last tried.

Best video editor?

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 08:54 AM PDT

One thing that I enjoyed on my iPhone was iMovie and how simple and effective it was. Now that I upgraded to an Android, I'm looking for something similar and I'm having trouble sorting through ad filled, watermarking, generic video editors and I'm wondering what works best for you guys?

[DEV][Android][Fighting Game] quit your job with a baaaaang (Quitting Job - Lite)

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 02:16 AM PDT

Google Play: QUITTING JOB - LITE

My first android game is out. It's a fighting game, beat'em up with some elements of rpgs. It's a lite version so your feedback will guide me through further development. It's coded with Java and Libgdx, graphics are drawn by me with wacom tablet and some rotoscoping (I'm a programmer though). I remeber back in the day playing awesome arcade beat'em ups and just miss it so much.

Adult - (Rated M+) Apps (Non-Porn Finders)

Posted: 07 Sep 2016 01:29 PM PDT

I am confused on where all the Android Adult rated apps are?

Adult games, apps etc... When I look seems everything is stupid and normally a Porn wrapper.

Where's all the questionable content games? Like too violent, adult content related etc... Essentially NSFW the same.

I look up NSFW android apps online and everything is pretty stale. MiKiandi always comes up as an alternative adult content store but everytime I look it's lame and seems to have alot of similar.

Other suggestions?

legitimate app to give me a full screen Caller ID

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 07:46 AM PDT

I have a Note 7 (This thing is...the "bomb"! lolol) and I love the phone, though one of my issues with it, is that the caller ID is simply too small. I have this huge screen, and a camera that takes amazing pictures, only for the caller ID image to be so tiny. Is there a LEGITIMATE app that gives me an amazing caller ID?

SameMo is an app for sharing group photos by face

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 06:49 AM PDT

Do you ever forget to send photos of your friends you took after going back from a hangout? Or do you bother to arrange those photos you took together? With the latest face recognition technology, we help you share moments to your friends in a single touch. It also enables you getting your photos you didn't take.

Face Recognition Employed with latest face recognition technology, SameMo automatically detects which friends are in photos you took, if so reminds you sharing to them.

Group Moments You share photos to friends by creating moments. Within a moment, you can add photos, and post comments, leading to a vivid story of your memory. In addition, you could invite other friends to join a group moment. All members of a group moment contribute to the story telling.

Realtime Notification When someone adds a photo or comment to moments you joined, you will get an instant notification about that update. This allows smooth communication with your friends. Moments are not static boring albums sitting in your phone any more, they become dynamic and interactive stories.

Look forward to hear your feedback.

Looking for Alternative Keyboard Configuration (see Diagram)

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 05:51 AM PDT

I'm looking for an app to changes my horizontal keyboard layout from the standard layout (top of diagram) to a split layout (bottom of diagram).

I welcome input on if you think this layout has advantages or disadvantages but I felt like seeing if it existed and if so giving a it a try. My current phone (Wileyfox Swift) is only 720p so the current horizontal keyboard reduces me to a one line view of what I'm typing so I rarely use it despite it be a more comfortable typing position.

I've had it with touchPal. Looking for an alternative keyboard with A specific Touchpal feature...

Posted: 08 Sep 2016 05:35 AM PDT

So as of the last TouchPal update their ads and ridiculous popup apps have spiraled out of control and I've had enough. Sad to see such a great keyboard turn to garbage.

My question is two fold:

Although I'm already experimenting with google keyboard and fleksy at the moment, they're missing a key feature for me: the ability to swipe up or down on a key to type a symbol or number. For instance on touchpal you could swipe up from the letter q and it would type a "1". Is their a keyboard with this functionality?

And out of curiosity, does anyone have TouchPal premium? Would getting it remove all the bloat and ads?

Thanks.

Facebook Messenger Alternative

Posted: 07 Sep 2016 11:46 AM PDT

Hi all - new to Android!

I've been trying to avoid/delay the inevitable and not download Facebook on my new phone. However the time has come and it's necessary for me to get it...

I'm looking for suitable Messenger app that ideally has a small a footprint as possible. Low battery and memory consumption, small file size and few permissions. I only require the Messenger and am not interested in the main site - unless the best messenger app happens to be an all-in-one.

I have searched around on Google and here on Reddit and have found similar threads, so have an idea of a number of contenders. Trouble is, since those were posted, I am aware Facebook is cracking down on third party access to it's messenger. Do any of them still work properly?

Ideally I would like notifications and rich content - ie gifs, emojis, videos etc if possible too, which I know a number of apps don't do. Does such an app exist? Suggestions, please.

Looking for a drawing / sketch app with a very specific brush type

Posted: 07 Sep 2016 11:34 PM PDT

Hello!

I'm looking for a drawing app that can do a very specific type of brush as seen in the artwork of this article.

I'm not sure how to describe it, but "watercolor" is the best I can think of. I've tried some apps (Bamboo Paper, Sketchbook and Sketchbook Express) but none of their brushes can replicate this style.

Anybody?
