Does Hangouts suck for anyone else?

Posted: 28 Aug 2016 07:58 AM PDT

I want to start by saying I'm on a Nexus 5X and Android N.

In the last three weeks or so (so not only on Android N but also the most recent Android N DP), Hangouts has gone from its usual awesome self to a laggy (or crashy) app. I use Hangouts tons so this is a massive bummer for me. Is this an issue for anyone else? It doesn't happen on older versions (so as of now I've got auto-update disabled for it, and that's my solution), nor does it happen on the iOS platform.

Thanks for any input!

[DEV] Experience YouTube in a new way with shuffly

Posted: 28 Aug 2016 01:19 AM PDT

Hi everyone! I've just released a new app on the Play Store, its name is Shuffly.

Thanks to its pseudo-random algorithms, Shuffly is the best place to discover new content on YouTube or just to chill and spend some free time.

Shuffly is not a replacement for the YouTube app, they serve different purposes. Sometimes YouTube can be a little overwhelming, Shuffly's minimal and straightforward design is thought to solve this problem.

Is possible to shuffle over the trending videos from YouTube, over a specific keyword, by category or over a set of videos that the user may like. These last videos are selected by Shuffly based on the liked videos from the user's YouTube account. Is also possible to shuffle over all the uploaded, liked and favourite videos of every YouTube channel.

Give it a try :)

[REQUEST] Note taking application with support for word formatting

Posted: 28 Aug 2016 08:20 AM PDT

To be clear I'm looking to take move notes that I've written up on Microsoft Word on my computer onto my phone but it seems that most note-taking apps don't support the amount of formatting Microsoft Word has to offer.

Any help? Thanks in advance!

Will instant messengers ever talk to each other?

Posted: 27 Aug 2016 05:09 PM PDT

I guess no, right? But it is kind of weird. You can place calls and SMS, and the phone companies deal with the interconnection, so you can reach anyone on any network.

With messengers, you are just limited not only to the app, but the service itself.

Would it make sense for companies to develop the best app so you would choose the one that suits you, and some type of interconnection between each other, with a universal protocol, to talk to other people with a different app?

Edit: Would not make sense for, say, Google to come out and say "here's allo, and here is the API, anyone can interconnect". Smaller players would probably come onboard, and there could be the start of an ecosystem.

It would be kind of disruptive. It would help lower the barriers.

Right now, everyone, small and big, is playing the same game.

Was told I could probably get some help here. I was hoping to look for recommendations for an app to replace my stock SMS.

Posted: 27 Aug 2016 09:26 PM PDT

Sorry if this isn't appropriate or doesn't belong here.

Like the title says I'm looking for any good apps to replace my standard phone SMS. Apart from the fact that I think it's bland I need to be able to get out of group messaging and as I was rummaging around the net for help I was told that there isn't a way to do this with stock SMS and getting a new one that could was one of the only solutions.

Edit: Thanks for the answers guys. You were all very helpful.

[QUESTION] I downloaded some stupid app and now my emojis are horrific (HTC 10)

Posted: 28 Aug 2016 09:38 AM PDT

I was trying to change from Google emojis to iOS emojis and I found an app (dont remember what it was) that people said would accomplish this, but it ended up changing all my emojis to these horrible pieces of shit:

I am not rooted. Is there a way to change my HTC 10 emojis to iOS emojis or at least revert them back to the stock emojis? This is seriously pissing me off.

Video Editing app with zoom and pan feature?

Posted: 27 Aug 2016 07:28 PM PDT

Hey guys, was hoping I could get recommended a video editing app. Basically looking to make skate videos for Instagram and need the ability to be able to zoom in on a particular spot for a clip. I've tried downloading a variety of apps with no luck and not trying to spend any more money on the wrong ones.

Basically need an app that has the features to make this vid, especially how it zooms in on the half cab f/s feeble: https://www.instagram.com/p/BFHwVsqrJG9/?taken-by=fatherfiger

Most apps I've tried don't let you zoom in on a particular spot in a clip which is kind of essential for skating so you can zoom in on the skateboard itself which isn't always filmed the best.

Thanks for any recommendation!

App that turns phone into voice recorder

Posted: 28 Aug 2016 12:41 AM PDT

OK, I am aware that there are a lot of voice recording apps. I need an app that can record voice without the need to turn on the screen, by using buttons for volume control (i.e. Volume up starts recording, volume down stops it). Is there something like that on playstore or a way that I can program the phone to do that?

Is sprint or other carriers removing Samsung apps from the note 7 to push their own content?

Posted: 27 Aug 2016 12:36 PM PDT

So i have been doing some research and so far i have found on 3 of the note 7s my family has with sprint none of them are able to use the Find my mobile app, wifi calling or use the smart call app they advertise on their website . I have asked a few others on some forums with Sprint and their phones also lack these options. conveniently though Sprint had preloaded their own paid apps with the same features as the missing ones from Samsung besides wifi calling. If this is true this is a huge violation of my trust as i purchased the phone with full intent to utilize these features. Also i know that android device manager can do the same for find my phone but that's not the point. So far that's all i can find but there is probably more missing.anyone else care to share if their phones are also lacking features that where supposed to be on there?

Alternative to Nike + Running app

Posted: 27 Aug 2016 11:04 AM PDT

The new update to the Nike plus is so bad. My running info is wrong, the UI is more complicated to use, the colors are uglier, and they put a useless feed in my way that I don't want to see or use. What's a better alternative to this app that could do everything it could before the update without having to get some premium account for those basic features?
