Why cleaning apps are useless and bad. Posted: 13 Jun 2016 06:12 AM PDT Here are my thoughts based on facts. I'll list their often unnecessary features and prove them to be useless. Let's get into it. "Ram Cleaning" Empties ram. Seems good, huh? Nope. Android does this already by itself. Remember, free ram is wasted ram. By stopping services all you achieve is making android restart them, slowing your device down even more. The "cleaner" even runs in the background, monitoring everything, which leads to not only less usable ram, but also privacy concerns. Additionally, unneeded features such as a lockscreen are even worse. I want a cleaning app, not a damn lockscreen bundled with it. Those animations don't help either. Useless and slow. "Cache Cleaning" This one isn't that bad. You can already clear cache for each individual app in the android settings, but you can do all of them in a click. This one is useful. "Other features" As I already said, I want a cleaning app, not a lockscreen. These features are completely unnecessary, useless, and waste your ram and space. Also your time. Annoying daily notifications are also useless, let me decide whether I want you to scan through my apps. Looking through my photos and their quality is my concern, not a cleaner's. Despite all this, some apps are decent. They don't run in the background nor have unnecessary features. These are CCleaner and SD Maid. Stay away from others, most importantly Clean Master. Then why is CM the top cleaner? Advertising. They advertised the app many times, often in a very misleading way, such as "free up 2GB in space". Are you kidding me? Not everybody has the exact same phone, apps and files. Assigning a value to that is plain stupid. Thank you for reading, have a beautiful day. [link] [comments]

Posted: 13 Jun 2016 12:57 AM PDT I currently use feedly, which is fine on the whole but it's auto delete after 30 days ruins it for me as I tend to binge on Web comics every now and again rather than consistently read them. Ideally looking for cross platform support and syncing too. [link] [comments]
Best android centred youtube channels? Posted: 13 Jun 2016 07:39 AM PDT Preferably ones focused around apps, kernels or roms. So far I've found HowtoMen, which is pretty great. Would love to find more cool channels though! [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jun 2016 12:11 AM PDT Not sure if there is such a thing, but is there an app that lets you view your timeline for Facebook and Twitter, AND get notifications? Loved Scope but that's long since vanished. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jun 2016 09:41 AM PDT I would like to move away from Chinese closed source app Greenify whose developer worked 5-6 years for infamous Taobao (typical Chinese spyware battery drainer shopping app, just use mobile website instead horribly coded app) plus also for Huawei tightly linked to Chinese government according his Linked.in profile (Canada is for instance not granting visa to Chinese Huawei employees and hire only locals for reason). I am living in China for years, so pardon me for being paranoid about Chinese apps in my phone and having zero trust in them (see Cheetah mobile, ES file explorer, Quickpic, latest development in Opera boosting features, etc). Today I tried Greenify replacements - Forcedoze and Naptime but I have trouble to make calendar reminders from Business calendar work despite putting BC into non optimized apps in battery setting, notification will appear only after turning screen on. No matter is using xposed module for Forcedoze or not. Any advice how to make Business calendar reminder notifications working with Naptime or Forcedoze? Naptime seem more customizable with different interval settings. [link] [comments]
Did the option to color coordinate your events on Google Calendar disappear? Posted: 13 Jun 2016 09:31 AM PDT I use to be able to se the option where I can make an event a certain color. Now it just defaults to blue. [link] [comments]

Lockscreen with icon pack support Posted: 12 Jun 2016 11:26 PM PDT I'm having trouble finding a lockscreen app that supports icon packs. I'm not rooted so I can't use something like Unicon. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]
[DEV] Floater - a floating fake location app, that minimizes the need to constantly switch apps. Posted: 13 Jun 2016 08:45 AM PDT Hey guys, I've built a floating fake location app to solve my frustration of constantly switching apps. I hope you guys find a good use of it. I have added a bunch of features that most of fake location apps have. Feel free to leave a comment here for suggestions, bugs or features. [link] [comments]
Best app(s) to read and discover interesting stories? Posted: 12 Jun 2016 08:42 PM PDT Just general subject stories, maybe divided by topic but not necessarily. Being light and not battery aggressive would be a huge plus. Any ideas? [link] [comments]

[QUESTION] Is there an app to suppress repeated text message notifications? Posted: 13 Jun 2016 04:01 AM PDT I first asked for a way to do this on /r/AndroidQuestions, but the base OS doesn't have this feature. Is there an app that will prevent rapid-fire texts from playing the notification ringtone over and over again? For example, "got a table," RING RING, "window seats," RING RING, "ordered you a soda," RING RING, spaced just a few seconds apart. Notifications in this situation become a constant "someone is talking to you" noise. Is there an existing app for this? [link] [comments]
[Request]A calorie tracking app with a better database than MFP and FitBit integration. Posted: 13 Jun 2016 07:16 AM PDT Are there any apps that are better than myfitnesspal for tracking calories? I'm looking for something more accurate but also has a bigger database which also integrates with fitbit. [link] [comments]
[Request] alarm app with phrase challenge Posted: 13 Jun 2016 03:27 AM PDT Hello there. I'm in need of an alarm app that will only stop ringing when I enter a predefined phrase as password. Does anyone knows a good one? [link] [comments]

Any way to get a refund after 2 hours have passed? Posted: 13 Jun 2016 09:26 AM PDT I bought the app 'Focus' awhile back, and a few hours later I realized I didn't have too much of a need for it. Unfortunately Google's refund policy was only 2 hours from date. So i contacted the developer hoping he'd get back to me, but never did. I tried emailing again a few times and he's never replied once. It's been almost 2 weeks now but I'm wondering if there's still a way? I did try to contact the developer multiple times, initially around 3-4 hours after I bought the app, not trying to get a refund weeks later. [link] [comments]

Looking to achieve a specific functionality Posted: 13 Jun 2016 08:39 AM PDT Possibly something restricted to root + xposed I'd be fine with that: Let me record an audio file. If I get a call from someone suspessing his number, play him the audio then end the call. Don't even disturb me telling me I am/was getting a call, just deal with it for me. [link] [comments]
Messaging app allowing multiple devices with a single account/tel# (like Telegram or Hangouts)? Posted: 13 Jun 2016 08:06 AM PDT Hi guys, I am looking for a messaging app that allows me to switch devices while staying connected with the same account/tel. number. So far I can do it with Telegram and Hangouts, I was wondering whether you can suggest other apps with the same feature. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Jun 2016 07:54 PM PDT Hey everyone, Just a quick question I haven't been able to find a good answer to (at least one that makes sense to me). I have an unlocked and rooted Nexus 6p that I use twrp to backup. I love it and it works great. My question concerns what the best method is to use once I change phones down the road to make the transition as painless as possible. Does twrp work for this, or would I have to use some combination of Google backup, Helium, or Titanium backup? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
