Posted: 20 May 2016 09:48 AM PDT I searched this up and only found some articles and posts from late 2015. Does anyone know if Project Fi supports the Moto X Pure Edition, or if there is any info on them supporting it in the future? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Custom Rom - what am I missing? Posted: 20 May 2016 10:45 AM PDT So I'm trying to load Cyanogen mode, and I'm getting lost. I have a S4 for ATT. This is how I understand it, but I can't get past how to root the darn thing:

Question about Android and Android Wear rebooting Posted: 20 May 2016 10:52 AM PDT Last night I was playing around with a watch face called Bits on my moto 360 2nd gen, which is paired to my Nexus 5x. I was having lots of trouble getting certain things to work, and sometimes, the watch face wouldn't even show up on the moto 360. After playing around with it for over an hour and constantly rebooting my watch to try and solve the problems, (and really draining the battery fast,) my phone and watch rebooted a few times by themselves. Once, they did it together, once my phone did it by itself. (The watch and phone are both charged up now and not rebooting anymore) I'm wondering if this is just because of the constant rebooting and battery draining I was doing myself originally or if it's something else and if it's a real problem. Should I be worried? Edit: I also have a trigger task set up on my phone to monitor my battery constantly and tell me when it goes below 51%. Could this be a problem or related to the rebooting? I've never had trouble with Trigger before. [link] [comments] |
Can't get my custom kernel to work Posted: 20 May 2016 08:57 AM PDT Alright, this is starting to drive me nuts. I am running on a live version of x64 debian 8.4, and got the MM source code from the Samsung Opensource Release Center for my SM-N910F (International Note 4). I followed the instructions included and successfully built the kernel. I then used AIK to add the zImage to the official ROM's boot.img (which I'm running), and then flashed the new image in TWRP. The problem is that the phone is stuck in a bootloop, with the red text "KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING" above the Note 4 logo. I can manage to boot the phone if I flash SuperSU beta 2.72.zip after the image but it only stays booted for 30 seconds and then reboots (happens constantly). The only modification I made was updating the xpad file to make my xbox one controller work natively (which I confirmed in the 30 second period that it's working!). Now I'm stuck here wondering why it's not working, can anyone with kernel experience help out? (I'm talking about help with the kernel, I know how to recover from a bootloop) Also, here is the kernel image for anyone interested, just make sure you have a backup before flashing it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/q2atsxx7urfkuoh/image-new.img?dl=0 [link] [comments] |
I lost all my Google Opinion Rewards credit Posted: 20 May 2016 01:18 PM PDT I had to do a factory reset on the tablet I had Google Opinion Rewards installed on. When I reinstalled I lost all of my accumulated credit. Can someone tell me what the hell happened? [link] [comments] |
Google Play Services has stopped working - can't acces Google apps or apps that require location Posted: 20 May 2016 09:31 AM PDT Dear Internetwizards, Big problem since a couple days. It started when I kept getting a couple 'Google play services has stopped working' pop-ups on my shiny Samsung Galaxy S4. I just clicked OK since, you know, that's the only option. It didn't really matter to me that much. However, yesterday my sort-of-GF broke up with me. So naturally the first thing I do is start up Tindr. Please don't judge me. I got another pop-up from my old friend Google Play Services and my matches wouldn't load. I start digging a bit, and can't fix it. I had a different problem for some time, everytime I turn on Location I would get a pop-up saying 'You have turned off Location in a previous version of Google, would you like to turn this back on' or something like that. Could the problem be a privacy setting from when I first booted the phone? I have: -Wiped cache. -Deleted updates of Play Services, restarted my phone, reupdated -Did same thing with Google Play -Went through every possible Google settings I could find -Cursed a fucking lot Now everytime I click on Settings >Accounts > Google I get an errormessage that Settings has stopped working. Everytime I turn on Location I get a couple 'Play services has stopped working'. Please help me and I will make a cool drawing for you. [link] [comments] |
Possible to more aggressively check for 4G/LTE? Posted: 20 May 2016 10:19 AM PDT I have a rooted OnePlus 2 with CM13 Nightlies and I take a train journey regularly where the signal quality varies a lot. I'd like if I could active an app that will more aggressive check for LTE and switch the signal over. At the moment it takes up to 5 mins to switch to LTE when it's available. If I'm in a built up area I have no problem getting a constant, strong LTE signal. Any help is appreciated. Edit: CyanogenMod 12.1 used to have an LTE tile in the pull down options. I could tap on and off to get a better connection, but it has been removed since. [link] [comments] |
Microsoft Office on Chromebooks Posted: 20 May 2016 03:16 AM PDT Now that the Play Store is coming to Chrome can it be something I get work done on? I haven't tried out the Office apps for some time and I'm not sure how useful they are on Android now. I am a heavy Excel user especially and while I don't expect to have anything close to what you would find in Windows, last time I used the Android app it wasn't worth the time. Definitely better off using sheets. Sheets is fine sometimes but there are times I need more. I guess the big question is will Microsoft be actively developing these apps in the future? Can't access internal storage from my computer, only SD. Is this normal? Posted: 20 May 2016 11:25 AM PDT This is my first phone with SD card support, so I'm not quite sure how it's supposed to work. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 with Cyanogenmod 13 nightly. When I plug it into my computer over USB, it only shows my SD card, not my internal storage. http://i.imgur.com/8kIuNLJ.png When I was on the default Samsung T-Mobile rom, I could use both at the same time. Is that a feature of Samsung's rom only? Is Cyanogen the problem or does stock Android do this too? Also, TWRP can't access the SD card, only the internal memory. [link] [comments] |
Phone into Nexus Player like device? Posted: 20 May 2016 08:01 AM PDT Is there any way to turn an old phone into a Nexus Player like device? Posted: 20 May 2016 07:28 AM PDT I turned off that when wifi is off, apps can still use it for location data. But afterwards the setting disappeared, and for the life of me I can't find it anymore, can someone help me out? [link] [comments] |
Flashing new Factory Image/Steam Guard issues Posted: 20 May 2016 09:30 AM PDT Hey guys, I don't know if this was the right subreddit to post, but if it isn't I'm sorry. So, I want to flash a new factory image on my phone, but I don't want to go through another 7 days of being unable to instantly trade items... Is there a way to do it or am I always gonna have to deal with those 7 days of slow trades? Thanks a lot :D [link] [comments] |

Why are my texts to my wife sometimes arriving with fragments of earlier texts added to them? Posted: 20 May 2016 09:02 AM PDT So this happened three times in the span of 8 days, then stopped for a month, and now happened three times today. I've been sending texts for years and never had this happen: •On April 20th, I sent my wife a text. She got most of it, but partway through (mid-word), the text switched to the text of a message I had sent her on March 28th •On April 21st, a text I sent her switched partway through to a text I had sent her on March 29th •Yesterday (April 27th), a text I sent her switched partway through to a message I'd sent her on April 2nd •It's happened three times today (May 20th), but I haven't had time to research when the earlier messages were. Just asking about car repair and the message suddenly pivots to being about hot dogs, like that. In each case, the message displayed correctly on my phone, and the only way I knew something was amiss was because she replied with a very confused reply (because I seemed to be switching topics mid-sentence, and throwing in a nonsense word in transition). I have not had this happen with a text to anyone else (that I know of), nor has she had this happen with a text to her from anyone else. In all three cases the messages were 23 or 25 days apart, which seems significant. The old messages were always between us as well, so I can't tell if the problem lies in her phone, my phone, or something between us. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5, she has a cheaper phone I forget the name of. This only seems to happen to somewhat long text messages. It's more of a mystery than a tech support problem. Any ideas? Posted: 20 May 2016 05:55 AM PDT I use my phone to browse the Internet, reddit, YouTube and use a few productivity apps. No games. No camera, in fact, I must destroy the camera for security at work. I am happy with my S4. But lately, the phone is rebooting and runs hot. Haven't been able to fix it. I replaced the battery, reset the phone and upgraded its firmware. I don't need better hardware. I am price conscious. Better battery would be nice. I'd rather have a cheap phone comparable to the s4 than anything new because I have to destroy the camera. Something that I can either put the latest Android or CM would be nice. Edit: A new s4 goes for $200. So I'd be looking to spend this or less. [link] [comments] |
How can I recreate this simple style of filming using my Android phone? Posted: 20 May 2016 10:27 AM PDT I'm using an S7 edge (and also have an S5, a Tab A and a Canon 700d DSLR). I'm trying to recreate the style of filming used in 'Tasty' (the Buzzfeed food arm): https://www.facebook.com/buzzfeedpropertasty/ Does anyone have any tips on how to suspend my phone above the things I'm filming so it looks like this? I have a tripod for my DSLR but not my phone. Do these videos use natural light? Any other advice welcome, thank you! [link] [comments] |
Lost phone, need to log out of all my accounts. Posted: 20 May 2016 08:34 AM PDT Hi. My phone(an LG Escape android) was stolen at school and it doesn't have any lockscreen on it. I'm logged in on all sorts of accounts Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Youtube, etc. I have pretty sensitive information on them and in the wrong hands, I'm screwed. Is there a way to log out of each of these accounts so it can't be accessed on the missing phone? I'm really desperate. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Rooting and battery life - Blu Vivo XL? Posted: 20 May 2016 03:02 AM PDT Hey guys. Long time Windows Phone user trying out Android for a while and I need some advice. 1.) What is the deal with all the apps running in the background? The battery lasts alright but no matter how many times stop running apps with my battery app, they keep coming back. Different apps at different times. Apps I've downloaded but never once run yet. Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/eZfNh7x.jpg Why does this happen and what can I do to stop it? I can't find anything in the settings to stop them from auto-starting. 2.) Is there any way to get stock Android on my device or any benefit to rooting it? I've looked and it doesn't seem like it's supported by Cyanogenmod. Blu has locked down a number of customization features and their control panel conflicts with any other swipe-up motion. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Making a Battery Case for the Nexus 5X Posted: 20 May 2016 09:32 AM PDT Has anyone here ever made a custom battery case? I have a Nexus 5x, and I really love the phone. In my eyes, it really has one flaw, and that's the average battery life. I would love to be able to just buy a battery case, as that would solve this issue, but no manufacturer has created one yet, or seem to have plans to in the near future. So I thought, it couldn't be too hard to buy a really large heavy duty case, put a thin external battery in it, and connect the two with a very small cable, something like that. I also thought to find a phone with similar dimensions that has a battery case made for it, and buy that and just modify it, but I have not found any good contenders. If anyone has ever attempted this or has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
